Thanks to the support of the Jeffersontown High School
Alumni Association, our fine arts auditorium is a
reality! Work has begun with completion set for early fall
'09. That Charger pride has accomplished a seemingly impossible
dream.
I am so proud of the many JHS graduates who have given
time, money, or talent to a variety of projects------the auditorium,
landscaping, mentoring students, and speaking to the freshman
class.
We have another issue we hope that some you could help
solve-- the entrance to the football field. Although some areas
of the football field have received updates, the entrance is
original. Unfortunately, the metal sign collapses with each
strong wind and the gate area has the unimpressive, original
buildings. Our goal is to build a brick entrance with a
permanent sign. If you have materials, time, talent, or
donations for this project, we would greatly appreciate your
help. You can contact the alumni association at Myra.Fugate@Jefferson.kyschools.us or principal Marty Pollio
at 485-8275.
The stadium was dedicated to Mr. Bill Reynolds, our
first principal, in 1973. The field was dedicated to Coach Jim
Hughes in 2005. With your help, we can create a stadium that truly
honors those men who helped to form the pride of all Chargers who
played, performed, or participated in the Jeffersontown High
School football stadium.

OLD SCHOOL REUNION
The Last Hurrah .....
Saturday July 25th, 2009
Members of the original Jeffersontown High
School classes from 1925 - 1950, will be having
their last reunion at the Jeffersontown
Community Center.
Festivities will occur during the day, with a dinner around 6:00 pm.
The original high school opened in 1925, with the 1st graduating
class, "the class of 1929"; which graduated eleven
students. When the school was closed in 1950, with about 500
students enrolled, those students were re-assigned to Eastern &
Fern Creek High Schools.
The Old Jtown high school, was the same building where many of us
went to elementary school; the old Jeffersontown Elementary School on
the corner of College & Galene
Drives. With its big flight of stairs in the front of the
building, to its spiral fire escapes slides from the 2nd floor.
How many of you used to slide down those things, during the summer
carnivals & fall festivals held there for so many years.
That building was torn down & replaced by Tully School,
where the location is still the beginning of many dreams for today's
children.
